What is Generic Indian Kid Non Profit (GIK)?

We are a 100% volunteer-staffed non-profit formed in 2010 to help and support Adhya Academy of Creativity and Learning, a school for children in orphanages, destitution, socioeconomic isolation and disadvantaged situations in Hyderabad, India. GIK also supports other nonprofits that collaborate with Adhya Academy from time to time like Hope Foundation, India.

How can I be sure that Generic Indian Kid Non Profit (GIK) is a legitimate non-profit organization?

We are a 501(c)(3) in good standing and approved to operate by the IRS of the United States and are registered in the State of Texas. We file a 990 IRS report that shows all donations received, the expenses of Generic Indian Kid Non Profit, and the amount of money sent to India. This report is available to the public upon request.

Will GIKs be successful in the real world with the proposed system of education?

The other well known arts related curriculum is "International Baccalaureate (IB)" and Cambridge Board (IGCSE) program. Students that go through the IB and IGCSE curricula have surpassed students in all other boards in academic achievement as well as personal and professional development. The curriculum at Adhya Academy for Creativity and Learning will be a step ahead of the IB and IGCSE in that it is focused on real life problem solving, development of life skills, place based, experiential and service learning. It is only natural that the GIKs will excel in all aspects of education whether academic or real life situations as their education is based on the principle of "lifelong learning and community based problem solving."

If I donate to GIK, where does my money go?

GIK Non Profit is a "zero overhead" organization. One hundred percent of the donations made to GIK will be disbursed to India, and will be used for supporting Adhya Academy as well as conducting community development activities.

If I donate to GIK, will my name be sold or shared with any other organization?

No. We hold our benefactors’ names in strictest confidence and do not share or sell their information to any other organization.

Where do I send my donation?

Donations can be made online via PayPal or Google Checkout, or you may send a donation check to our mailing address:

Bharani Nagarathnam, Registered Agent
2409 Norham Dr
College Station, TX 77845
Checks should be made payable to "Generic Indian kid Non Profit"

Can I send money or gifts to my sponsored child in India?

Yes, but please do not send money or gifts of value directly to India, as they might be lost in the international postal delivery. Cards, letters and small items of little value will arrive safely at Adhya, but items of value may not. Please forward your request to GIK (info@giknpo.org) and we will arrange for your gifts to reach India if possible.
